October 30 Quimper Grange Square Dance Canceled

The square dance scheduled for the evening of October 30 at the Quimper Grange has been canceled due to the memorial for Bob Boardman, a member of the scheduled band, that will be held on Saturday.

Spike Reid will NOT be back to calling or cueing this week (October 12, 13, 14, 15 in 2010).

A little more recovery time after surgery would be a good idea, and he would prefer to be a bit safer on the highway if he is going to be driving on the same roads with the rest of us! Please adjust your dance calendars as follows:

Band Change at the Upstage October 2nd

The Blues Counselors were forced to cancel for tonight due to illness.  They've been replaced on short notice by the Soulstice Band from Port Orchard.

Different approaches to teaching dance for leads and follows

I just came back from the annual Richard Powers Dance Weekend in Seattle.  It was my first time there; I had been hearing raves about the event from women, mostly waltzers, for years.  It was, in short, an injection of fundamentals, new moves and history, and even though by Sunday afternoon my feet were two sizes larger than on Saturday morning, I would have welcomed more.  The new material had just that right quality of challenge, the quaility of dance partners was outstanding, and the teaching was orchestrated to keep everyone feeling as though they were getting it, but jus

Roberto Villamarin to Teach Four Workshop Series in Port Townsend

Many of you have experienced the teaching of Roberto,  He is an experienced instructor/trainer and choreographer with a knowledge of a broad range of dance.  Beginning in February, he will be starting four different series of classes, each spanning four days: February 27, March 27, May 1 and May 29.  The Events Mentioned links following this post detail each series, and include pricing and sources of additional information.

Dance Classes in Sequim - Series in Latin and Ballroom

Beginning and Intermediate dance classes every Tuesday night at Sequim Prairie Grange Hall.

A new dance series is started every month on the first Tuesday.  Series alternate between Ballroom and Latin, with one dance style each month in both classes.

Classes cost $7 per person per week.  Experienced dancers may attend both classes for $10.
