Jim Nyby and the "F" Street BandOlympic Peninsula Dance kicks off its 17th season on Friday, September 21 at the Elks Club with a benefit swing dance featuring, and contributed by, the Jim Nyby & the F Street Band plus silent auction. A Country Waltz lesson begins at 7:00pm, followed by Nyby’s Band at 8:00pm. Both are open to the public

Continuation of OPD dances will only be possible with an increase of attendance by our community. Business or private silent auction donations are appreciated and will be accepted by Sharon Railey, 379-1692 or 518-810-9164. Proceeds from the auction support monthly smoke free, live band dances that are always open to the Olympic Peninsula public from September through April. OPD also provides support for many of our talented regional musicians.

Mix it up on the dance floor with stompin’ Blues, Latin style, Chicago Shuffle, Roots and that ‘ole time 50’s and 60’s Rock’n’Roll, featuring Nyby on the piano and vocals, guitarist Dave Peterson, Bruce Cannavaro on bass, Joy Qualey on saxophone, Kurt Munnich on drums and Bill Kiely on percussion. A long time favorite of our community, Nyby’s group, all local residents, has generously donated their first gig of the 2012-2013 season to support future Olympic Peninsula Dances.

There will be a free (with admission) dance lesson in Country Waltz taught by Sonja Hickey at 7:00 pm.  Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. No partner or registration is necessary.

This is a smoke-free dance open to all ages.

Admission: Adults $15; 12 and under $7; after 10:00pm, Adults $7.
