Olympic Peninsula Dance presents the Kitsap band Malo Combo, playing acoustic latin and swing music on Friday, December 13 at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge.

The Malo Combo keeps hips swiveling on the Kitsap peninsula and in the South Puget Sound area with the intimate sounds of acoustic guitar and latin percussion.Malo Combo Friday night, December 13, Malo Castro will bring his congas, timbales and bongos north for a rare visit to Port Townsend adding rhythmic spice to the quintet's passionate music from Cuba and Puerto Rico. Malo's natural feel for rhythm and knowledge of dance translates directly to the dance floor and gets people moving.

There will be a free (with admission) dance lesson by Malo Castro in Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata at 7:00 pm.  Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. No partner or registration is necessary.

This is a smoke-free dance open to all ages.

Admission: Adults $15; disabled or student with school ID $10; age 12 and under $7.

Robin Bessier and Full Circle Play for Discovery Dance at the Port Townsend Elks December 18th

Discovery Dance is thrilled to welcome back Robin Bessier and Full Circle to the Port Townsend Elks on December 18th.  The dance starts at 8:00pm.

Bessier and Full Circle play a mix of the best dance music from the 1920's to today.  The songbook includes Duke Ellington, Bill Withers, Ray Charles, Cole Porter, Lerner & Lowe, Benny Goodman, Tina Turner, The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind & Fire, Johnny Mandel, Burt Bacharach, and Nat King Cole.  Bessier's two prior dances performances at the Elks kept dancers on the floor from opening to close.  Look forward to East Coast Swing. Night Club 2-Step, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Waltz, Two-Step, West Coast Swing, and blues.

Full Circle

Full Circle is composed of professional musicians Robin Bessier on vocals and percussion, Ed Donahue on trumpet, George Radebaugh on piano, Ted Enderle on bass, Tom Svornich on drums, and Bill Kiely on percusssion.  All have played in bands across the Northwest and the country.

A free (with admission) workshop in Rumba will be offered by Janice Eklund at 7:00 p.m.  Experienced dancers are encouraged to come help beginners. Couples and singles are welcome. No partner or registration is necessary.

This is a smoke-free dance open to all ages.

Learn the foundations of both Blues & Salsa-Blues Fusion in this fantastic workshop that explores the use of double-time rhythms in salsa, and teaches you how you can apply those concepts to a wide range of blues music.  In Workshop #1, we'll review the basics of both salsa & blues as well as some lovely step variations that will lay the foundation for Workshop II.  In workshop II, we'll learn a number of fun, innovative combinations from Ari's library of moves and inventions that you can take with you to the dance floor.  You must take Workshop #1 to participate in Workshop #2
